4. What does it mean to master everything?

Making time for weekly trends will culminate in what you have, providing opportunities to live the life you want.

The 100to100 plan embraces two core themes: Live Well and Master Everything. While "Live Well" focuses on building health and habits, "Master Everything" delves into the pursuit of wealth, exploring how we can continuously learn, grow, and expand our capabilities.

Mastering anything requires dedication, but unlike daily habits, it doesn't necessarily follow a rigid routine. It involves planning and consistently allocating time to pursuits we're passionate about. This dedication can be seen as an investment in our abstract wealth: the richness of wisdom and freedom that enriches our lives beyond just financial considerations.

Defining Success in a Complex World

Outcomes are traditionally based on the immediate result of an action. That works for habits in a close system, but not necessarily for long-term pursuits in an evolving open system like life. Here, success is redefined. It doesn't solely depend on immediate results, but rather on your ability to consistently engage in the pursuit while remaining open to diverse outcomes.

From Consistent Actions to Evolving Trends

Similar to habits, pursuits involve initiating actions based on our thoughts and desires. However, unlike habits where we solely control the outcome, trends are influenced by external factors.

Check out the blog for a great analogy on the differences between habits and pursuits.

Trends Define What We Acquire: Building Abstract Wealth

Since trends involve controlled actions with uncertain outcomes, they significantly impact our abstract wealth. This wealth encompasses two groups:

  • Wisdom: A combination of skill, knowledge, and experience, developed through dedicated pursuit of various interests.

  • Freedom: A combination of financial security and time freedom, allowing you to pursue your passions without limitations.

Remember the point from the "Live Well" section about habits shaping who we are? Pursuits operate differently. They don't define who we are, but rather what we have acquired through our ongoing effort.

The 100to100 framework helps you navigate both aspects of life. By dedicating time to "Live Well" habits, you build a strong foundation, while the "Master Everything" theme empowers you to continuously learn, grow, and acquire wisdom and freedom, ultimately enriching your life in multifaceted ways.
